Venue Rental:

The Fireweed’s beautiful dining area is available for private rentals after hours. Whether it’s a baby shower, bridal shower, birthday party, lecture, or employee dinner, the space can accommodate up to 25 people. Please reach out to us with any questions or ideas for your special event!

You can find us in the heart of Gustavus, locally known as 4-Corners. Gustavus is the gateway to Glacier Bay National Park, and whether you come here to see the glaciers, view the whales and birds, or fish for cohos and halibut, you’ve seen the Fireweed, located kitty-corner to the infamous old-time Gustavus Dray.

Like most of Alaska, the rhythms of our days are ruled by the sun. In the summer, when the town has quadrupled in population, the Fireweed is a bustling place where locals and tourists can share tables and conversation. There’s almost always an old homesteader around to tell you what life here was like before the ferry boat, the park, and the paved roads. And if you time your visit right, you might even overhear the locals discussing the best berry or mushroom picking spots.

In the winter, as the sun sinks ever lower in the sky and the crowds disperse, Gustavus downshifts to a sleepy little town overflowing with creative hobbies– quilting and textiles, woodworking, writing, and art become the focus of our days, and some of that winter-work can be seen in the gallery! Games and puzzles are spread out on the tables upstairs in the cafe, where you can sit by one of the windows with the warm beverage of your choice and watch the snowflakes fall.
